This was a small collaboration project with my lovely fellow illustrator and vintage enthusiast Nicola Carter.
During a rummage in an antique book shop we found a tiny 1886 book of poems by Scottish author James Hogg, inspiring us to illustrate one of these poems each by creating a tunnel (pop up) book. I chose 'The Mermaid Song' and Nic chose 'Morning'. Once the layers had been created using a combination of screen printing and hand inking, we bound them into books from scratch, and aged them using read leatherette binding cloth, gold detailing, sandpaper and patience. We made two each for swapsies, and after a crazy 10 days with alot of laughs, I'm very proud of us.
